The choice of boots to Mt Mera

!±8± The choice of boots to Mt Mera

Mount Mera is the highest "Trekking Peaks" in Nepal. These are mountains to be climbed by people who may be called non-extensive technical experience climbing. Furthermore, in an effort to promote tourism of the government to pay a much lower figure, allowed to climb these mountains, as it is for some of the highest peaks and famous as Mount Everest.

Make no mistake, however, that these mountains are simple. Mt Mera rises over 6,500 meters above sea level. Athis altitude the air is thin and the risk of mountain sickness is high. Even at this altitude the climate is cold and unpredictable Sun climbers must ensure that they are well equipped and in top condition moments. Despite its classification as a "trekking peak" should not be underestimated Mount Mera.

An essential element of preparation is to choose the right shoes. At this altitude climbers at temperatures many degrees below zero are exposed to, even inClimbing season ended shortly after the monsoon rains and before the onset of winter. These conditions, means that it is advisable to have a really good warm pair of boots for the expedition. Most people who climb Mt Mera (Mera Peak or, as it is sometimes called) with double plastic boots. These consist of a sturdy plastic exterior that is waterproof and resistant to accept crampons coupled with a warm lining and soft foam insulation. The reason for using a dual-boot is twofold. The first is thatIt offers a high degree of warmth and insulation. The second is that, because you can remove the coating to dry overnight, as it will be soaked with sweat during the day.

During my expedition Mera I, in fact, a simple pair of cloth boots used with a waterproof film all the way up to 5,800 meters. These boots were quite warm enough, if you have two pair of socks (a thin lining and a polypropylene outer braid worn thickWool). Once again I have my high camp and had to start breaking trail in deep snow are a pair of waterproof boots with leggings complete solid needed to keep the snow out of them. Even with the warm boots and two pairs of socks, my feet froze to the end of the day. I did not freeze, but the feeling that I almost certainly will not start so hot.

In short, when approaching Mera, a pair of hiking shoes or regular hiking boots, but when it passes over theMera glacier below and continue with your high camp must have well-insulated and protective boots to keep feet warm and safe.
